Interview with Robin Edgar – Conversations About Wealth Building, Retirement, Getting Rid of Your Stuff and Talking to Your Aging Parents

In this episode we are talking about retirement, wealth building, getting rid of stuff and hard conversations that center around money.

I met Robin at a networking event and was really captured by her honesty and direct approach regarding wealth building and retirement.

I really appreciated hearing what she says to clients in regards to their adult children. "Get rid of the stuff before your kids throw it away." or "Do these things so your kids will remember you fondly and not heartache and hardship."

Having gone through some of these things with my family, I wanted to bring her on to talk more in depth.

This episode is for all people. If you are closer to retirement age, listen for her advice and steps. If you are my age (in your 40's) and don't quite know how to broach the money topic with your parents, she gives you tips and advice.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Robin's personal experience with her parents
  • Her approach with her family and adult children
  • How to talk to your parents about their future plans, care and getting rid of stuff
  • Some honest truths about retirement and wealth
  • She gives tips on how to say the hard things
  • So much more

About Robin:

Robin Edgar is a Wealth Strategist, Founder of Wealth Progression Group, and Chief Exit Officer of Ready. Set. Exit! With more than 35 years of experience, she works with high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners to bring clarity and structure to complex financial lives.

Robin doesn’t just focus on investments—she leads with strategy. Her work centers on aligning decisions across tax, investments, business ownership, and legacy planning so clients can move forward with confidence instead of reacting to disconnected advice. She is known for helping clients shift from fragmented planning to a coordinated, intentional strategy designed to create cash flow, preserve wealth, and prepare for what’s next.

A core part of her process is building and leading a trusted advisor team. Robin serves as the quarterback—bringing together CPAs, attorneys, M&A professionals, and other specialists to ensure every decision is aligned and every opportunity is fully vetted. She believes outcomes improve when the right people are in the room, having the right conversations, at the right time.

She also places a strong emphasis on family alignment. Robin facilitates family meetings to help clients communicate values, prepare the next generation, and make informed decisions before transitions occur—not during a crisis. Because in her world, wealth without clarity across generations isn’t a strategy—it’s a risk.

Her perspective is shaped not only by decades in the industry, but by her personal journey. Becoming a mother at 17 with no financial roadmap, Robin built her career from the ground up—guided by mentors who saw her potential and challenged her to think bigger. That experience fuels her commitment to helping others create clarity, confidence, and control over their future.

Robin is a sought-after speaker and host of a new podcast that will launching very soon:  “Ready. Set. Next!”, where she will explore the intersection of faith, family, and finance. Her message is direct: true wealth is built through strategy, strengthened through alignment, and realized when you’re prepared for what’s next.
