Confessions From A Personal Trainer: I Was at a Brewery on a Monday Night

True Confession Tuesday

Where every Tuesday: I confess.

Confession: I was at a brewery on a Monday night.

I know what you’re thinking. Me-at a brewery? On a Monday night when there’s American Ninja Warrior to watch??

Yes I was at a brewery (with real clothes on – with zippers) on a Monday night. I was there to celebrate the birthday of a great friend of mine. I absolutely love celebrating my birthday but I also love watching other people embrace age and celebrate life.

People often tell me “I don’t like my birthday” or “It’s no big deal” or “I don’t want to celebrate”

Birthdays are for celebrating. And for looking at the last year and asking yourself “Did I do everything I wanted to do? Did I accomplish my goals? Am I better than the year before?” It’s your moment to shine.

You might be looking back and thinking “I didn’t accomplish what I wanted. My year was terrible. It was a hard year. ” And that’s okay too. Not every year is great. Not every year does life go as planned. Not every year do you wake up healthier and happier on your birthday. In that case, you get to take control of your life and work on making your next birthday an occasion to look forward to and to celebrate.

It’s funny how wrapped up people get in the number. This friend was turning 50 and joking around about being that age. But the bottom line is – she’s rocking 50. She runs double laps at Tough Mudder with us, runs road races, takes the dogs out multiple times a day for walk/runs, and best of all – has a positive, upbeat, happy outlook on life approaching new challenges with gusto.

So I challenge you – on your next birthday. Ask yourself…..am I happy and proud of where I am? Can I be better? How can I take control of my life so I am happy to have my next birthday?

Break the birthday mold- shout it from the roof tops, celebrate for days, make it a big deal because every birthday is worth it.
