Episode 110 – Brittany Holterman

What happens when an engineer opens a functional fitness gym, starts ninja training and switches to vegetarian based eating?? Find out in this episode with Britt Holterman. I met Britt when she was a walk-on for the Minneapolis episode of American Ninja Warrior. I know you will love this episode because Britt shares with us her story of leaving her safe and secure engineering job to follow her passion of opening up a gym and ultimately how that has shaped more of her life.

We talk about:

  • The process of opening up your own gym
  • The courage and faith it takes to make a big change
  • How to build a community of like-minded people
  • What sparked her interest in ninja training
  • How many competitions she’s placed at
  • What’s next for her ninja career
  • Why she decided to change to vegetarian based eating
  • What a day of eating looks like and the foods she now eats

About Brittany

Britt Holterman is the owner of Legacy Gym MKE. Britt is a MovNat Certified Trainer (MCT) and American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified Personal Trainer along with certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid. She is also a qualified trainer in TRX.

Britt earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Dayton while playing Division 1 basketball for the Flyers. After college, she spent two years in Niagara Falls, NY coaching the Purple Eagles Women’s Basketball team.

She then returned home to work in Land Development Engineering for DAAR Engineering and Pinnacle Engineering while earning her Master of Science in Engineering from Marquette University and Wisconsin Professional Engineering License.

Britt wasn’t able to stay away from coaching for long as she quickly joined the Wisconsin Basketball Academy Prestige girls AAU team as a coach while working in Engineering. Britt started Legacy Gym MKE in January of 2016. The name Legacy is after her mother who passed away in 2009. Britt strives to carry on her mother’s legacy while adding to her own.

Britt grew up in Racine and spent her elementary, middle, and high school at the Prairie School where her mother taught for 27 years. She grew up playing every sport imaginable (she was the only girl on many of these teams) and became a state champion in basketball and tennis and state runner up in soccer.
