Elevating the Personal Training Industry – Interview with Jasmine Braxton

What do you think of when you hear "personal training industry?" I have so many thoughts about our industry and my guest this week Jasmine Braxton has a BIG mission to elevate the personal training industry. I am so here for it.

Between the two of us we have over 25 years of experience in the industry and have gone through similar struggles.

  • Gyms who did not pay us for our work
  • Not knowing how to create effective programming for clients
  • Not making enough money to survive as a professional
  • Feeling the deep urge to leave the traditional gym setting and create our own businesses
  • Recognizing our industry is not viewed as professional and most people quit within their first year

In addition to her work with clients, Jasmine has created a mentorship program for female personal trainers to ensure they stay in business, create long lasting client relationships and have the knowledge of program design.

Jasmine Braxton, owner of Strong Flexy Healthy, is a 10-year veteran in the personal training space. When making the leap to pivot from private personal training to coaching trainers, the passion behind the decision was to provide the guidance, support, and feedback that was lacking for female personal trainers within their first 3-5 years of the profession; a personal pain-point she knew others were experiencing.

The goal? Elevate the fitness industry by providing female personal trainers not business coaching, but professional coaching.

"There are way too many trainers working in this space who don't really know what their doing, especially as it pertains to programming – and it's not for a lack of trying. Programming and skill development in coaching is just not thoroughly taught by the majority of certifying bodies and movement science programs. So unless a trainer has the option of learning from someone experienced, they are left hanging to figure it out on their own. Yeah, that not cool. It's time to put an end to it."

As someone who has a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and holds several certifications in addition to years of working in trenches with clients, Jasmine is definitely someone who can empathize with the needs of trainers trying to keep pace with the ever-changing landscape of fitness."

In this episode we discuss:

  • Our personal histories in the industry
  • The beauty of long lasting client relationships
  • All the things no one teaches beginner personal trainers
  • The importance of effective program design
  • Creating a CAREER in the industry
  • Jasmine's mentorship program

And honestly…so much more.

Jasmine and I are on the same page regarding our industry and we are both on big missions to make sure incredible personal trainers like YOU stay and create long and profitable careers.
