True Confession Tuesday:
Where every Tuesday: I confess.
Confession: I don’t want you to be a “New You”
Today is January 3rd. You may be on the 3rd day of your:
- Juice cleanse
- Whole 30
- 21 Day Sugar Detox
- Or any other type of program you started on January 1st
I think you’re amazing just as you are.
Everywhere you turn you hear or see “New Year, New You”
I’ve been thinking a lot about this. I don’t actually want to be a new me. I like me. I even like the way I was on December 31st and on January 1st. I don’t feel the need to change into a new person.
I do, however, feel the need to constantly work and improve on myself. But saying I’m going to be a “New Me” somewhat implies that there was wrong with me to start with and that I needed to change the core of who I am.
If you are on Day 3 of your cleanse or detox, please do so with love. Be gentle on yourself and when the program is over, appreciate yourself, take stock of what you have learned and keep on going.
All too often, people muscle and willpower their way through a program like those listed above, then blow it out when it’s over and struggle to really set any life long habits and patterns. Health and happiness are a lifelong marathon – not a 30 day sprint.
Try this instead.
- Take out a piece of paper/pen (no typing – must be handwritten)
- Write down ALL the things you want to do/change/implement
- Next to each one – write down WHY and HOW it will improve your life
- Break each one down into very small steps
- Determine where to start and how each small step can fit into your life
Please remember – you are amazing just the way you are. We are all working on being improved versions of our already incredible selves.
Happy 2017 and a huge, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your support. I am coming up on the end of my 2nd year in business and I wouldn’t be here without YOU. I am looking forward to big things coming up!
